We had a really fun weekend with our friends, Liz and Brian, from Texas. We got to show them around LA but really it was a good excuse for Chris and me to see LA. We haven't really gone around the area since we moved here and it was a great weekend with great weather to do so.
They arrived Saturday afternoon so we took them to lunch and then headed off the The Getty Museum. It was a clear day and we could see over the whole city. That night we went out to dinner and Liz accidentally ordered food with squid ink in it which basically made her food look like tar.
Sunday we took them to church and I happened to be speaking that Sunday and I am so glad it's over with. After church we went to the Santa Monica Pier and then to the Chinese Mann Theater where they have the stars, hand prints, and you can see the Hollywood sign. Brian and Liz made us a great dinner and taught us how to play Canasta. It was a really fun weekend and we're glad we got to host Brian and Liz.

Sorry, No Pictures
We haven't done anything lately where we took pictures so I apologize for the lack of visual interest. The most exciting news is we have a new niece! Scott and Lacy had their 2nd baby girl on February 27th and named her Peyton Rane. We can't wait to see the new babe and we're trying to figure out a weekend to make that happen.
Secondly, I finally landed a job. I am a full-time receptionist for Deustch Inc. Not the most glamorous job but it's a job and hopefully it works out. The people are nice and the environment is creative so that is a plus.
Also, this weekend we are playing host to Chris' friends Brian and Liz. I have never met them before so I am excited for that and to show them around the LA area. That's pretty much all the news we have to report, next time I'll have pictures.

A General Update
It's a little funny that Chris and I are married and it was our first Valentine's Day together; we didn't even know each other last Valentine's Day! We agreed that we didn't want to make Valentine's a big deal, small gifts such as flowers are definitely acceptable but we want it to be a good excuse to do something nice together. Luckily, Chris had a pretty low-key week at work so we got to spend a lot of time together that week.
Secondly, Chris' friend and co-worker, Silvia, got baptized last Sunday and it was great! We guessed she would have a huge turnout because she is so friendly and that was a very true prediction. Even Ben Savage was there (the actor from Boy Meets World)! There's no personal connection, he knows a co-worker of Silvia's so he came along, but it was still fun to see Ben Savage inside an LDS church.
I am STILL trying to find a job in LA. Wednesday I interviewed with an employment agency, Thursday had a 2nd interview with Anthropologie and an interview with another employment agency, and had 2 interviews on Friday for different companies That makes 5 interviews in 3 days, sheesh! I've got my eye on one job in particular but hopefully something pulls through for me, and soon.

Birthday Fun
Chris's 26th birthday was on January 16th and we got to celebrate twice. The weekend before his birthday we went to visit my parents in San Diego. My mom made Chris's favorite dessert, lemon meringue pie, and he got to open his presents. I really enjoy finding great gifts and from his response I think I succeeded this year, yay! I even enjoy the process of wrapping the gifts, it's a little nerdy I suppose.

The weekend after Chris's birthday we visited his grandparents in Santa Barbara and his grandma also made lemon meringue pie, he's so spoiled. It was great to visit them and a nice sunny weekend in Santa Barbara.

It's a good thing we got to celebrate the weekend before and after his birthday because on his actual birthday he worked until 3 am! That was a miserable week.

A Brand New Year
We had fun bringing in the new year with our friends Andrew, Erinn, Dan, and Jazmine. Jazmine and Dan are house-sitting for a family in our ward and that family has a very VERY nice house with fun toys and games. Games like Rock Band, lots of arcade games, a golf simulator, a bowling alley, a pool table, etc.
Andrew and Erinn are our friends from work and we know Jazmine and Dan through the ward. The two couples had never met before and sometimes I get a little nervous mixing groups of friends but it went splendidly and we all had a great time.
Here's our band totally candid (wink wink). We definitely don't have the pleasure of having so many games at our apartment but it was so fun play.

Chris and I have enjoyed our first month or so together and I am excited for what the new year will bring. My sister Diane and her husband Dave had a baby boy on Christmas Eve, Andrew William Jones. That makes one girl: Talie and one boy: Andrew for the Rane clan but Scott and Lacy are expecting another girl in February, yipee!

The Holidays with LEK
Last Friday, December 7th, Chris's office threw a holiday party for their LA and San Francisco offices. It was fun for me to meet some of the people Chris works with so I could put faces with all the names I hear.

And there are several other LDS people that work in the two offices so we all got to chat while sipping our sparkling cider and hot chocolate. Chris participated in a silly movie the first-year employees created which was a big hit. Overall the night was fun and a nice way to start celebrating the holidays.
