We have been virtually unaffected by the terrible economy...until yesterday when Chris was informed that everyone in his office is required to take 2 months of unpaid time off. If the situation doesn't improve after 6 months then the layoffs will begin. This makes me think how grateful I am:
- for my job.
- that we have enough money saved to handle this.
I am still nervous and concerned but I know we are prepared. I was also bummed about the thought of not getting this great apartment we found on Saturday. I have spent a lot of time the last few weeks finding vacancies and making appointments to look at them. I have been thoroughly unimpressed until Saturday, when we found this great apartment on the same block we already live on. The apartment isn't any bigger than our current place but it is significantly nicer and is only $55 more per month! Given the current circumstance I didn't know if we would still take the apartment but after some discussion we still feel good about moving. HERE IS THE SILVER LIVING: Chris will actually study for the GMAT. I have been bugging Chris about this for months and this time off will actually give him the chance to study for and take the GMAT. Two months is more than enough time so I am hoping he will also accomplish a lot of his application processes for business school during that time.
